Why are Men Prone to Liver Cancer?

Researchers who were affiliated with the University of California situated in San Diego disclosed that this protein seemed to be the cause of men being prone to cancer of the liver compared to women. They got this information from studies they had with mice. The study showed that female mice only manufactured far fewer quantities of this protein. This protein was termed interleukin-6 or commonly known as IL-6. Moreover, the creation of IL-6 was being concealed by estrogen. This study gave information on a possibility of decreasing the occurrence of cancer of the liver in men. Needless to say, it was IL-6 which contributed to the continual inflammation of the liver which paved the way to cancer.
This research was spearheaded by Michael Karin. Willscott Naugler who was the initial author of this paper, expressed their speculation whether an augmented inflammation was the reason behind the elevated occurrence of cancer of the liver in males. What comprises the bulk of the cancer of the liver in human beings was heptocellular carcinoma or HCC. This could be done by either of three ways. First, the IL-6 levels in the case of males could be reduced. Second, this IL-6 exploit could be impeded. Lastly, to hamper the manufacture of IL-6, estrogen-like compounds could be directed. There are organs in the body which are not obviously gender-influenced. On of which is the liver. It is even more astonishing to note that inflammation of the liver is covered up with estrogens.
